Harrison wants Barrera bout:Posted By: Joshua Boyles BELFAST (AFP) - Scotland's World Boxing Organisation (WBO) featherweight champion Scott Harrison is keen on a lucrative showdown with Mexican great Marco Antonio Barrera later this year, the British fighter's father and trainer Peter told a news conference."Scott has been doing featherweight since he was 15 and now he's 28," said Peter Harrison. "That's a long time to be doing featherweight and I think the time is right for him to move up to super featherweight. "But there has to be a reason to move up to super featherweight and if (promoter) Frank Warren can come to us and offer us a fight with Barrera then that would be a great reason to move up a weight. It has been talked about and I hope the fight can be made." But before that bout takes place, Harrison must first defend his title against unbeaten former WBO super bantamweight champion Joan Guzman at Belfast's King's Hall on May 20. Harrison, who did not attend the news conference after missing his flight from his training camp in Spain, is facing what many believe is the toughest test of his career. However, Peter Harrison dismissed such talk, saying: "When you look at Scott's record there are men on it who stand out such as Manuel Medina, Tom Johnson and Wayne McCullough and I think those were harder fights than this one. "Of course we're not taking Guzman lightly. He's the number one challenger and he's a former world champion but I just feel that Scott will be too strong for him." Harrison-Guzman is joint top of the bill in Belfast along with Northern Ireland's Eamonn Magee defending his WBU welterweight title against England's Takaloo. British rising star Amir Khan, from Bolton, north-west England, will also have his seventh professional contest following six straight victories against an as yet unnamed opponent. Khan, a silver medallist at the 2004 Athens Olympics, said: "I've boxed in Cardiff, Glasgow, London and it's great to be coming to Belfast and to be fighting in the King's Hall where so many legends have boxed. "I feel my career is going great and I'm looking forward to another good win in Belfast and hopefully the Belfast public will get right behind me." Courtesy Of: Yahoo!
